World Leadership Conferences

World Leadership Conferences, conducted annually by the International Women’s Forum, draw women from more than 50 countries who are the world’s leading architects, advocates, catalysts, and pioneers of change – the women who are re-drawing the map for how we’ll live, work, produce, and maintain healthy communities in the coming years. As our global economies restructure and reshape business, politics, environments, access and opportunity, IWF’s cutting–edge conferences harness those must-have conversations in order to educate, inform and inspire our women leaders and our partners to be out ahead of the change that is needed.

With more than 900 members and guests from more than 25 nations – the Conference in Miami was a great success.

Miami is at the vanguard of change. The city sets trends in art, culture, media and entertainment. It is a financial center, a critical path for trade, and a thriving center for technology. It is the American gateway to Latin America both economically and culturally and is a truly global city, with a rich diversity defined by its bold creativity.

With that in mind, it is easy to see why Miami was the perfect place to examine global issues including the future of political warfare, blockchain technology, trade in flux, sea-level rise, and women who persist to make change happen. We were excited to continue our special Ideas Remaking the World series in which three IWF members were featured on stage sharing their ideas that are disrupting, improving and reimagining our future, and our IWF in Action Town Hall, which will explore the Opioid Crisis.

Houston has experienced dramatic demographic change. Its astounding cultural, ethnic, and political diversity is spurring so much creativity in art, food, and fashion, that Forbes has called it “the coolest city in America.”

Women leaders from more than 40 nations will came together with experts and innovators to explore topics including changing energy economics, global health in our interconnected world, what’s next in space exploration, women in sports, and the future of philanthropy. Once again, IWF featured three members presenting their own cutting edge concepts in the Ideas Remaking the World session, and IWF was proud to introduce “IWF: Part of the Solution.” Members were invited to a town hall discussion on human trafficking; and IWF members in STEM were invited to “speed mentor” 8th grade girls from Houston area schools.

IWF and the Leadership Foundation are proud to announce that The Honorable Hillary Clinton was inducted into our Hall of Fame at the Gala on October 27. As an attorney and advocate, former First Lady, U.S. Senator, Secretary of State, and as the first woman to win a major party nomination for President of the United States, Secretary Clinton is a recognized icon across the globe for her support and promotion of women’s leadership.
