Kelly Becker leads operations for the technology team at the global headquarters for WeWork. She grew up as the daughter of an officer in the United States Marine Corps, firmly establishing the values of service and resilience. At Ursinus College, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and a teaching certificate. She was a member of the field hockey team, maintaining a top 10 national ranking throughout her career. The Bears won their conference championship all four years, appeared in three times in the Final Four, and won an NCAA Division III National Championship. Upon graduation, Kelly took her passion for sport and teaching to collegiate coaching, where as a Graduate Assistant Coach she not only played an invaluable role in the recruiting process by bringing on one of the largest classes in the last fifty years; but she also contributed to the improvement of the team’s record from last in the conference to runner-up. While simultaneously earning a Master of Science in Organizational Management. After completing her first Master’s degree, she was recruited to work for Founder and CEO of Under Armour, Kevin Plank, handling communications and special projects. Kelly was swiftly promoted to manage the Brand’s Open Innovation site, Idea House, and she played an integral role in the annual innovation challenge–Future Show, which resultd in landmark innovations such as the MagZip.
She significantly contributed to Kevin Plank’s entrepreneurial competition, Cupid Cup. Through which she has collaborated with entrepreneurs named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list and appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank. Each year, she hand-selected and recruited entrepreneurs to the competition. In 2017, she recruited four of five finalists for competition, two finalists were later named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list; including the winner. Kelly was a requested participant in espnW 8th annual Women + Sports Executive Office Hours. She has cultivated a vast network and in 2016, she received the Sports and Fitness Industry Association’s Future Industry Leader award. Becker is an experienced public speaker on innovation and entrepreneurship, having moderated panels, as a judge for startup competitions, and quoted by publications such as SportTechie and AudiPro. She is a content creator for Career Contessa and the world’s most recognized lacrosse player, Paul Rabil. In the Spring of 2017, Kelly graduated from the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland with a Master of Technology Entrepreneurship. This April, she received the Rising Star Alumni Award from Ursinus College; previous awardees include Rhode Scholars and Noble Peace Prize winners. Recently, Kelly moved to New York City to join one of the world’s fastest-growing startups, WeWork.
