Kate Ferguson is the Chief Client and Operations Officer at Edelman Australia, based in Sydney, Australia. In this role, Kate drives operational efficiency, manages financial performance and builds happy, confident teams with the consultancy skills to deliver impactful strategic and creative communications and marketing programs. Kate has been with Edelman for more than 16 years, with international experience conceptualizing and implementing award-winning communications and marketing programs for clients ranging from global companies to governments, academic institutions and nonprofits. Working across the United States, Australia and the Asia-Pacific, Kate provided strategic counsel to some of the world’s largest and most-trusted brands, helping these businesses build corporate brand reputation through corporate positioning, CEO and executive positioning, corporate social responsibly, consumer engagement and content marketing. Kate has led multi-award-winning programs for clients such as GE and the City of New York – both recognized for pioneering the use of digital platforms for storytelling. This year, her work with KFC Australia won Best CSR Campaign of the Year (Mumbrella CommsCon).
Kate developed and runs the Client Experience Program, designed to build strong account leadership and quality assurance, with a focus on integration and service for large client relationships. She mentors and guides account leaders and oversees Edelman's integrated services team, including creative, strategy and planning. Leading a team of more than 100 consultants, Kate has a broad remit to create a cohesive, unified and inclusive culture to support innovative and strategic thinking. Kate is passionate about fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. She serves on the Mentally Healthy Taskforce to champion mental wellness in the media, marketing and creative industry. She is the Australian lead for Edelman’s GWEN (Global Women’s Equality Network) and Global Citizenship teams, and an ally for Edelman Equal (LGBQI network). She is an active mentor and works with a handful of up-and-coming leaders within the agency.
