Former CEO, Grey Group EMEA
Carolyn Carter is the former CEO of Grey Group for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA). During her tenure as CEO, EMEA was the company’s largest region including more than 50 countries and 2,000 employees. Carolyn drove a profit turnaround, installed a new generation of management, expanded network operations in developing markets, and evolved creative and digital capabilities. She broke the glass ceiling for women at Grey and retired in 2012, turning her energies to independent consulting and volunteer service. Carolyn has served on several non-profit boards, including the Actors Fund and previously Spoleto USA, the performing arts festival based in Charleston, South Carolina, and HeartShare Human Services of New York. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Carolyn has been recognized with numerous awards for career achievement and women’s leadership, including the Matrix Award in Advertising, the National Headliner Award, and the Clairol Mentor Award. She was named to Campaign’s A List and as an Advertising Age Woman to Watch. She is a past president of New York Women in Communications, and the Women’s Forum of New York. Most recently, she served on the Board of IWF and was co-chair of the President’ Council.
