Press Release: International Women’s Forum Convenes Members, Experts for Virtual World Leadership Conference

“Leading in a Disrupted World” Features Discussions on Critical Global Issues Including the COVID-19 Pandemic, Racial Justice and Climate Change

October 6, 2020

WASHINGTON – From October 20-23, 2020 the International Women’s Forum (IWF) will convene nearly 1,000 women experts from more than 32 nations virtually for the World Leadership Conference and Gala. Centered around the theme “Leading in a Disrupted World,” the three-day conference will provide a global platform for thought leaders across sectors to discuss topics ranging from racial justice to the importance of women’s leadership in a crisis.

“IWF is thrilled to convene its World Leadership Conference and Gala in a virtual format for the first time. In the midst of a year unlike any that’s come before, there is no better time to learn from those who are leading through disruption, confusion, turbulence and conflict across a myriad of different spheres – ultimately, improving our world. We gather to energize, accelerate and demand the imperative of change,” said IWF President and Trudeau Corporation Vice President, Deborah Shannon Trudeau.

The program explores complex and timely issues from how to halt and even reverse climate change to the legacy of IWF member Ruth Bader Ginsburg, from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on women to building a racially just society.

The conference will culminate with the annual gala, during which three transformative figures will be inducted into the IWF Hall of Fame for their contributions to industry, diplomacy and society: Mary Barra, Chairman and CEO of GM; Ginni Rometty, Executive Chairman of IBM; and Fatma Samoura, Secretary General of FIFA. The event will also recognize six Women Who Make A Difference honorees for their impact on their communities and the world.
