Generations, Trends & World Perspectives -- IWF's 2003 World Leadership Conference in Toronto was a new beginning for the International Women's Forum. For the first time, IWF's world class conference, regularly the private domain of IWF members and their guests, was opened to Young Leaders who brought with them a new perspective on the way of the world.

With three generations represented (I - ages 60+; II - 40-60; III - 20-40), energy vibrated in the air of this three-day exchange that bridged the gap and provided two-way access towards understanding, inspiration and a new hope.

The power that the conference generated was carried forth onto the Gala stage where two leading Canadian women were inducted into the International Hall of Fame…Dr. Roberta Bondar, Canada's First Woman Astronaut, Physician and Scientist and The Honorable Madam Justice Louise Arbour, Supreme Court Justice of Canada and former Chief Prosecutor of the United Nations International Court of Justice in The Hague. Reminding the global audience on hand from 30 nations what leadership looks like when carried in the hands of remarkably gifted and talented women, these two Canadians graced the Gala stage with the example of their lives…a message that was not lost on any generation fortunate enough to be on hand to witness it.

On every stage, in every session of the World Leadership Conference & Gala women of each generation were featured…offering a different and poignant point of view…reminding IWF that what we do here matters…and providing IWF's membership with a sense of renewal and mission. Many have said the inter-generational format worked so well and so powerfully that it should be a featured component at every world leadership conference IWF conducts. Bridges were built. A way forward was laid down. Our young people brought a new energy. Our seasoned leaders gave wisdom. All took heed, and provided a new beginning for a cycle that must not end. When we talk to one another, anything is possible
